Recently in the newspapers there are many incidents happening. One of them caught my eye. It is regarding a NUS psychology graduate who allegedly outraged the modesty of a woman by leaving a drop of semen on her thigh.

After reading this news, I am pretty disappointed at both parties regarding the incident. Firstly, for Chong, I do not think that it is appropriate for his action. In his mitigation, he said he had the body disorder of ejaculating uncontrollably. However this is not an excuse for him to brush his private parts against the lady itself. What he did was morally wrong.
However it is also the woman’s fault partly. She should not have slapped Chong on the bus itself without letting him explain everything. Despite the obvious truth, she should allow Chong to explain everything and not demand him to follow her orders, like searching his haversack and everything. She also made the thing public by reporting to the police. While this may be the right thing to do, but it is claimed by her that Chong actually apologized to her regarding the incident.
It may seem I might be speaking up for Chong, but I maintain that this hoo-ha could have been avoided and not made public had the lady allowed Chong to explain himself. I do not think this thing should have made the papers. There was a chance of it settling at the scene itself. Either the lady wants to be in the papers or she thought it was the right thing to do.
From this incident we can clearly see that both sides failed to express themselves clearly on what to do and this led to a major farce. Hence I think this incident should have been settled on the spot to prevent the embarrassment of both parties, considering one of them is a NUS graduate himself.
Ok, time to go! My bus is here!

Hmm i think the woman is making a big fuss out of such a small incident.
ReplyDeleteIt is just a drop of semen, just remove it or something like that since the guy already apologised. I see no purpose in creating a ruckus out of it.
Then again, it maybe due to miscommunication that lead to misunderstandings.
HI JUSTIN!
ReplyDeleteI do not agree with you that it was an inappropriate reaction for the woman to slap the guy. From just the fact that the guy had rub this you-know-where against her, means there was an intention of a sexual harrassment. (Although I cannot imagine how in the world did he do that in public.) What did you expect the woman to do? Ask him calmly why did he do that? So what if he appologised?
I feel this was not a misunderstanding, but rather an attempt by Chong to cover up his mistake. Perhaps you are right that it shouldn't have been reported in the papers over such a trival matter, but it is only right to alert woman about such perverts.

It is not JUST a drop of semen, it is A DROP OF SEMEN! So I find it all agreeable that the woman slapped the guy. I would have do it too. I don't really know what happens cause I am unable to access to the page but it seems like the guy DID do something, which is quite obvious to why he ejaculated in the 1st place. I mean if he didn't do anything, he would have had that reaction. Hence the lady had all rights to feel that her modesty was outraged and could slap him and demanded it in the papers. (Of course this is based on my assumption that he did something to the woman because I cannot access to the article)
ReplyDeleteI guess that there's an awful lot of miscommunication between both parties. But, one have to admit that the guy is kind of creepy. Im mean, who would go around doing such things? And worse, it's on the woman's thigh. So I feel that the woman did the right thing by slapping the guy. However, I feel that she should cool down after that and allow the guy to explain himself. Even if she wants to report to the police, she shouldn't have leak this incident to the reporters as it would ruin this guy's life.
ReplyDeleteHi Justin!
ReplyDeletei agree that when in a dispute, both parties have to make their sides of the story absolutely clear so that some form of resolution can come to pass. Otherwise i think Chong's nonverbal communication on that bus was really sick and wrong.
